One of a handful of ‘newbie distilleries’ - ie built in the early 1970’s, Mannochmore is actually the spiritual sibling of the Glenlossie distillery, with which it shares a site, along with mashing resources.
Despite over 100 years separating the two (Glenlossie was established in 1876) Mannochmore is now the dominant distillery, accounting for two thirds of the spirit production on site and has a capacity of 6,000,000 litres.
As a whisky, the typical style has tended to be deliciously perfumed, fragrant and sweet, with light citrus notes, so a definite contender if you are considering a more than capable entry into the malt category.
