Gordon & MacPhail raises £4840 for Moray Riding for the Disabled

Published Thursday 27th March

Family-owned Scotch whisky and premium spirits specialist, Gordon & MacPhail, has raised £4,840 for Moray Riding for the Disabled (Moray RDA) as part of the organisation’s commitment to supporting the local community.

The organisation was nominated by Gordon & MacPhail colleagues to be the company’s chosen charity partner for 2024.

Moray RDA provide weekly riding lessons and pony care classes for more than 50 young people and adults with a wide variety of different individual needs – physical, learning and emotional.

The classes are run by their own specially trained coaches, assisted by an army of volunteers. Parents and carers talk of the physical benefits for their young people, with improved balance, coordination and muscle strength, along with improved mental health and feelings of happiness these classes bring.

Each year, Gordon & MacPhail selects a charity partner from those nominated by its workforce, arranging several fundraising initiatives throughout the year to raise money for worthwhile causes and continue to give back to the local community.

As part of the fundraising activities this year, a group of colleagues undertook a charity cycle, a 50-mile trip from Benromach Distillery to the company’s newest distillery, The Cairn, located in the Cairngorms National Park and back again. Gordon & MacPhail also arranged a host of other fundraising activities such participating in The Beast Race, golf and fishing days and raffles.

Jodie Clayton, HR Generalist and Lead of the Fundraising Committee at Gordon & MacPhail, said:

“At Gordon & MacPhail we are committed to fundraising for a different charity annually with the aim of making a difference to local organisations and helping to support members of our community.

“Moray RDA provides an invaluable service to the young people and adults using the service. We’re delighted to have raised a total of £4840 and honoured to play a small part in helping their services continue.”

Tracy Hales, Trustee and Fundraising Coordinator for Moray RDA, said:

“All RDA groups are self-funding, so every penny that we need to run Moray Riding for the Disabled has to be raised by ourselves. To be supported by a local business in this way is, therefore, a huge boost. This is an amazing sum and it will all be used directly to fund riding lessons and activities for our riders. Our thanks go to Gordon & MacPhail and to all the Gordon & MacPhail colleagues who organised, took part in and supported these fundraising activities. Their efforts and generosity are hugely appreciated by all involved in Moray Riding for the Disabled.”
