The oldest Glen Grant expression ever bottled

Stunning single malt whiskies that feature spirit from Glen Grant distillery have been a recurring and popular theme in the Gordon & MacPhail story. This release - our Gordon & MacPhail 1948 from Glen Grant Distillery - is the oldest ever expression. At 70-Years-Old, it delivers vibrant notes on the palate, with a complex and rewarding finish that endures.

    Nose

Initially sweet – vanilla fudge, strawberry, and raspberry nuances develop into thick apricot jam. Waxy polish aromas emerge and mix with cinnamon and candied orange peel. Gentle and lingering smoky traces complement the balanced mature oak notes. with time, a subtle, fresh mint note unfolds.

    Taste

Smooth; subtle sherry soaked fruit flavours fuse with fresh orange zest and cardamom undertones. A slightly dried herbal element develops and transforms into mouth-warming cracked black pepper and aniseed flavours. Delicate smoky notes endure.

    Finish

A smooth, long, lingering finish introduces elegant charred oak and flashes of citrus.

    Glen Grant

Built in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant, previously illicit distillers, this landmark Rothes distillery overlooks the majestic River Spey. Glen Grant Distillery draws its water from the Caperdonich Well, the same water source as its now mothballed sister distillery, Caperdonich. Legend has it that a spirit pipe ran between the two; this was prone to ‘interference’ at night from the local townsfolk who fancied a sly, illicit dram or two!

Today, Glen Grant is famed internationally for its smooth, elegant whisky produced by the distillery’s unique stills – these have an almost square section between the pot and neck and purifiers on the lyne arms. These uncommon additions lend to the world renowned deliciously light, fruity, and gentle character that mature wonderfully in both bourbon and Sherry casks.
