Featured in the 2019 Summer Collection, our Gordon & MacPhail 1961 from Mortlach Distillery offers an exquisite blend of fresh orange and velvety chocolate aromas with vibrant bursts of candied fruit on the palate, complemented by hints of charred oak and warm roasted chestnuts on the finish.
Beautiful aromas of fresh orange groves transform into velvety chocolate truffles filled with sherry. Fresh, sweet honeysuckle tones add depth to chocolate orange.
Dark chocolate with vibrant bursts of orange oil. Candied fruit with gentle oak notes lead to subtle humidor nuances.
Long and smooth; dark chocolate with orange and dried fruit. Hints of charred oak complement the slight meatiness of the dram, leading in to lingering warm roasted chestnuts.
Founded by James Findlater, Donald Mackintosh and Alex Gordon in 1823, Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown following the passing of the Excise Act. It remained as the only distillery in Dufftown until Glenfiddich was founded in 1887 by William Grant. It was Alexander Cowie, who pioneered the distillery’s famed technique of ‘2.81 times distillation’, rather than the traditional method of double distillation, which is still in practice today: resulting in a spirit full of character and power.
