Sherry soaked fruit notes are complemented by fragrant violet and aromatic ginger. Cinnamon spice with bursts of juicy red apple, transforms into sweet brown sugar with rich honeycomb.
Zesty orange and dark chocolate notes lead to traces of soft cracked black pepper. Mouth-warming; malted cereal and toasted oak come to the fore alongside a subtle hint of beeswax polish.
Smooth and mouth-coating. Black cherry and dark chocolate notes linger on the finish.
Established in 1878 by James Stuart & Co, you’ll find Glenrothes distillery in the town of Rothes in Speyside. The distillery had a turbulent start as the economic recession in 1878 meant a loan from the nearby United Presbyterian Church was needed to complete the initial build. The distillery prospered as the years progressed, with the whisky boom of the 1960s leading to an increase in capacity, graduating from four stills to six. Two further stills added in 1980 were supplemented by two more in 1989, taking the total up to ten.
