Rarely seen as a single malt, our Private Collection 1975 from Glenlossie Distillery was released in 2019. This exquisite whisky offers an intriguing blend of toffee and dark chocolate aromas, with a hint of velvety caramel on the palate.
Initial aromas of beeswax polish and confection banana. Subtle extinguished bonfire notes evolve into mixed spice – ginger and nutmeg. Bitter dark chocolate complements treacle toffee.
Soft and mouth-warming; rich dark chocolate with velvety caramel. Flavours of espresso coffee linger with comforting malted chocolate.
Satisfying dark chocolate mocha with a slightly drying mouth - feel. Hints of molasses remain with flashes of mature oak.
Located close to Elgin, Glenlossie distillery was founded in 1876 by John Duff, who also founded the Longmorn Distillery in 1893 and Benriach Distillery in 1898. Glenlossie distillery is a fascinating operation, as it shares a site, and certain aspects of production, with its sister distillery, Mannochmore, which was built in 1971 to help cope with growing contemporary demand for blended whisky. Glenlossie has gradually expanded over the decades, with new warehousing added in 1950 and new stills added in 1962 bringing the total onsite to six.
