About Benromach

The company owns Benromach Distillery located in Forres in Moray. Benromach Single Malt Scotch Whisky is handcrafted using traditional methods by a small team of distillers using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. The multi award-winning portfolio of single malts is enjoyed by whisky drinkers worldwide. A 5-star visitor experience has been operating since 1999 and is part of the world-famous Malt Whisky Trail.

Located behind one of Benromach Distillery’s distinctive red doors, lies ‘Peggy’, a vapour infused gill still, used to craft, Red Door Highland Gin. Inspired by the mountains, seas and forests of Scotland, Red Door is a classic London Dry Gin, with the heart of juniper and deliciously complex notes of sea buckthorn, pearls of heather and rowan berries.

About The Cairn

In October 2022 Gordon & MacPhail opened The Cairn, the company’s second distillery, near Grantown-on-Spey, overlooking the River Spey towards the Cairngorms. The new site has added further distillation capacity and brand ownership to the company’s asset base and is a key part of the plans to continue building a long-term sustainable business. A five-star visitor experience, offering tours, tastings, and a tapas style menu of the finest Scottish produce is a major attraction for the area. The company will wait until the mid-2030s, to release the first single malt whisky to be distilled at The Cairn. Meantime, a range of blended malt whiskies has been created under the brand name CRN57, to provide customers the opportunity to gain a sense of the flavours that will be found in The Cairn in years to come.

Experts in Scotch Whisky Maturation

Gordon & MacPhail offers some of the world’s rarest and most sought-after Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. Since the founding of the business in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail sent casks to Scotch whisky distilleries throughout Scotland to be filled with new-make spirit, before being left to mature for many years either at the distillery or in their bonded warehouses in Elgin. The practice of filling spirit into casks at distilleries not owned by Gordon & MacPhail will stop in 2024 as the company’s long-term future will focus on whiskies from Benromach and The Cairn. The company retains extensive maturing stocks so whiskies carrying the Gordon & MacPhail name will continue for decades to come. Opening in 2024, the Gordon & MacPhail Whisky Experience is located on the original premises where the business was established in 1895. Offering guided tours, interpretative displays, a ‘liquid library’ and tastings of the world’s rarest single malts, this destination will be a ‘must visit’ experience for whisky aficionados from around the world.
