Gordon & MacPhail 1976 from Glenlivet Distillery
Tasting film
Nose
Sweet citrus notes are followed by rich fruitcake and butterscotch. Cinnamon and ginger spice complement subtle liquorice and oak.
Taste
Smooth tobacco flavours give way to rich raisins and subtle white pepper. Stewed fruits combine with walnut and plum.
Finish
A long finish with roasted nuts and fresh garden mint.
Mortlach Distillery
Founded by James Findlater, Donald Mackintosh and Alex Gordon in 1823, Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown following the passing of the Excise Act.
It was Alexander Cowie, who pioneered the distillery’s famed technique of ‘2.81 times distillation’, rather than the traditional method of double distillation, which is still in practice today: resulting in a spirit full of character and power.
