Tamdhu
The introduction of the railways helped to give the Speyside region a boost during the late 1800s, with the Strathspey railway allowing a number of distillers to not only move their whisky to the coast for shipping more easily, but also to receive their barley and casks in a more efficient manner.
Tamdhu Distillery was one of several to be built along the Strathspey railway line, opening in 1897 and was originally built by a group of whisky blenders. Today the mature spirit is richly sweet and highly sought after as a single malt in its own right.
