Glentauchers Distillery - Changing hands
1906 - WP Lowrie transferred his shares upon his retirement to James Buchanan & Co Ltd
1923-25 - Extensive alterations and improvements to the maltings and mash-houses were made, and a large new
spirit store designed by Charles Doig & Son was also built.
1925 - James Buchanan & Co merged interests with other major Scottish whisky blenders within enlarged Distillers Company Ltd.
1930's - Ownership and operation of Glentauchers eventually passed to another DCL subsidiary Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd
with the licence retained by James Buchanan.
1939-1946 - Glentauchers closed.
1965-66 - Major rebuilding which involved new still house, mash house, tun room and a trebling of still
capacity from 2-6.
1969 Floor maltings ceased
1985 United Distillers closed Glentauchers.
1989 - 90 years from the start of production allied Distillers bought Glentauchers
1992 - August. Production restarts at Glentauchers Distillery.
