Robust and moreish after dinner dram with a nice depth and some complexity.

Tasting Note

AROMA without water

A subtle burst of rum and raisin, with a defined malty nose. Hints of rich brown sugar and a Christmas cake edge linger. Sweet creme brulee influences develop.

TASTE without water

Hints of festive spices - mouth warming, some marzipan, almonds and a burst of stewed fruits. Smooth and very enjoyable.

AROMA with water

More delicate, with a more pronounced hint of stewed fruits, with charred oak influences and a defined vanilla nose.

TASTE with water

Some warmth remains, with a robust Christmas cake edge, hints of dried fruits and a burst of sweet sherry.

Strathisla

Founded by George Taylor and Alexander Milton, it was originally known as Milton - named after the nearby Milton Castle. Strathisla was the name of the actual whisky produced and eventually became the name of the distillery. Much of Strathisla's production is used for blending and the distillery is the home of the one of the most famous blends - Chivas Regal. The distillery is the oldest in Northern Scotland and is certainly a delightful distillery to visit as it has an almost fairytale quality.
