Benromach Port Wood Finish 22 years old 45%. One of the newest editions to the Benromach range. Deep amber in colour, this whisky has sweet fruitcake aromas, malty notes and red berries on the nose. The palate is sweet and rich, summer fruit aromas, some coffee grinds and burnt fruit.
St Magdalene 1975 43%. The nose of this yellow gold lowland whisky has sherry notes with strong fruits aromas – melons and red apples. The palate reveals sweet, winey with oak and hop flavours. Some heather blossom (honey) elements.
MacPhail’s Collection Glenrothes 1965 43%. The nose is filled with rich sherry aromas, hints of treacle and a little menthol. Rich, sweet flavours fill the palate – sherry, spices earth and eucalyptus. A touch of peat smoke.
Connoisseurs Choice Glen Keith 1993 46%. From the now mothballed distillery, a pale straw whisky bursting with fresh fruit aromas and a subtle floral hint. Chocolate and vanilla notes. Peppery and spicy on the palate initially followed by a sweet, fruity element. A light whisky which finishes with hints of fruit and herbs.
Connoisseurs Choice Glen Spey 1995 43%. This light yellow whisky has a nose of apple skins and a delicate floral edge. Malty notes followed by a hint of spice. A floral, leafy palate with a drying spiciness. Violets and pot pourri lead to a dry, toasted flavour.
Connoisseurs Choice Pittyvaich 1993 43%. A very clean whisky on the nose, from the demolished distillery, with sweet fruity aromas and a delicate floral herbal note. The palate has oak and vanilla flavours, with a hint of malt and cereal. A light refreshing body leads to a short, slightly dry finish.
Cask Strength Glenlivet 1990 59.4%. Sweet concentrated fruit aromas of raspberry jam, red apples and peaches fill the nose of this light amber whisky. Also hints of vanilla and cedarwood. The palate is intense – sweet and spicy. Vanilla pods with a smoky, earthy element.
Cask Strength Miltonduff 1993 61.8%. Dave Broom (Whisky Magazine) says of Miltonduff Single Malt 'This has a punchy refreshing quality. A musty start leads onto fruit, marzipan and a floral note.'
Private Collection Clynelish 1969 45%. Deep gold is colour this whisky has a sherry nose initially with lavender and parma violets followed by cinnamon and moist fruitcake. The palate is spicy and sweet with hints of sherry and freshly cut grass. The body is mellow and rounded.
Private Collection Mortlach 1951 42.0%. Rich sherry and fresh fruit salad on the nose of this treacle brown malt. There are also traces of oak and spice. Sherrywood and root ginger on the palate along with pepper and bonfire ash. The finish is sherry with a hint of smoke.
Rare Vintage Glen Albyn 1975 46%. Bright amber malt from this demolished distillery is sweet and slightly oily on the nose with a peaty edge, also hints of mahogany furniture and teak oil. The palate is sweet initially with floral and grass flavours. Slightly salty with roasted malt and a little peat smoke.
Rare Vintage Glen Albyn 1966 43%. The nose is rich fruit laced with spices – cloves and cinnamon. Also a floral sweetness which is reminiscent of Edinburgh rock. The palate of this orange gold whisky is charred oak with hints of citrus oils and an almond nuttiness. Smooth and mellow with a sherrywood finish.
